Comprehensive intervention And
support for struggling readers

Welcome to Essex Literacy Center, a place where children with dyslexia or other reading struggles receive high-quality, multi-sensory reading and written language instruction. Our methods are based on the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading, spelling, and writing. As a professional member of the International Dyslexia Association, we incorporate and adhere to the latest findings and evidence-based approaches surrounding the science of reading.

Direct and Explicit

At Essex Literacy Center, each skill, rule of language, and strategy for reading, spelling, and writing is taught clearly and directly.

Systematic and Structured

Our lessons are individualized and taught according to a systematic scope and sequence. Each tutoring session builds upon previously taught skills or concepts and moved along at an appropriate, individual pace.

Multisensory Approach

We deliver reading and writing instruction that incorporates a combination of auditory, visual, and tactile-kinesthetic input.
